Disney+ login and account access

Disney+ at a glance

Launched on November 12, 2019 in the United States, Canada and the Netherlands, Disney+ is the flagship streaming service of The Walt Disney Company. It brings together under one roof the entire libraries of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and 20th Century Studios. In just a few years, Disney+ has become one of the largest streaming platforms on the planet, with more than 150 million subscribers worldwide as of 2026, alongside its sister services Hulu and ESPN+.

Whether you watch on a 4K Smart TV in the living room, on the train via the mobile app, on a PlayStation 5, an Xbox Series X, a Nintendo Switch, an Apple TV, a Roku stick or a Chromecast, every device speaks the same language: your Disney+ account. This guide walks you through every way to sign in, from the original Disney+ login to the newer MyDisney unified account, and explains the bundles, profiles, parental controls and security features available behind your credentials.

How to log in to disneyplus.com

The most direct way to start watching is via the website. Make sure to type the URL by hand to avoid phishing copycats.

  1. Open your browser and go to disneyplus.com.
  2. Click Log in in the top right corner.
  3. Enter the email address linked to your Disney+ or MyDisney account.
  4. Type your password and click Log in.
  5. If 2-step verification is turned on, enter the 6-digit code sent to your email or generated by your authenticator app.
  6. Pick the profile you want to use — for example "Mom", "Dad" or the "Kids" profile.

Within seconds you reach the home screen with personalized recommendations, your Continue Watching row, and the latest hub from Marvel, Star Wars or National Geographic.

Logging in from the Disney+ app

The Disney+ app is available on a huge variety of devices, all of which use the same MyDisney login:

  1. Install or open the Disney+ app on your device.
  2. Choose Log In.
  3. On TV devices, the app shows an 8-character code. Visit disneyplus.com/begin on your phone or computer, sign in there, and type the code.
  4. On mobile, enter your MyDisney email and password directly. Enable biometric login (Face ID or fingerprint) for next time.

What is the MyDisney account?

Since 2023, Disney has consolidated all of its consumer logins under a single identity called MyDisney. One MyDisney account now unlocks:

If you previously had separate Disney+ and Hulu logins, the system will guide you through merging them so that a single email and password works everywhere. Your watch history, profiles and subscriptions are preserved during the migration.

The Disney Bundle and other plans

In the United States, Disney+ can be purchased on its own or as part of the popular Disney Bundle, which combines Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ at a discount. As of 2026, the main plans are:

Whichever plan you pick, the login is identical. You can switch between bundles at any time from Account → Subscription.

Profiles, parental controls and Kids profile

A single Disney+ account supports up to 7 profiles, which is ideal for households that share a subscription. Each profile has its own avatar, language preferences, watch history and Continue Watching list, so kids' cartoons never clutter an adult profile.

GroupWatch and Disney+ with ads

GroupWatch lets up to 7 Disney+ subscribers from different households watch the same movie or episode in sync, with synchronized play, pause and rewind, plus emoji reactions. Each participant needs their own subscription and watches from their own profile. Start a session from any title page on supported devices (web, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, smart TVs and consoles).

Disney+ with ads (Disney+ Basic) launched in December 2022 as an affordable entry point. It includes the same vast catalog as the premium plan, with limited ad breaks averaging around 4 minutes per hour and no downloads for offline viewing. Some titles, mostly newer Marvel and Star Wars releases, may temporarily be excluded from the ad-supported plan depending on contractual rights.

2-step verification on Disney+

Disney now offers 2-step verification (2SV) on every MyDisney account. Once enabled, signing in from a new device requires both your password and a temporary one-time code sent to your verified email or phone.

To enable it:

  1. Sign in at disneyplus.com.
  2. Go to Account → Security & privacy → 2-step verification.
  3. Pick your preferred method: email code, SMS code or authenticator app.
  4. Confirm by entering the test code Disney sends you.

Disney also sends suspicious sign-in alerts by email whenever the system detects a login from a new country, a new browser or a new device. If you did not initiate it, follow the secure link in the email to change your password and review active sessions.

Resetting your Disney+ password

You can reset your password in a few clicks:

  1. Go to disneyplus.com and click Log in.
  2. Click Forgot password?
  3. Enter the email address tied to your MyDisney account.
  4. Open the email Disney sends you and follow the secure reset link.
  5. Pick a strong new password — at least 12 characters with letters, digits and symbols.

If you used Apple, Google or Facebook to sign up, you may not have a Disney password at all. In that case, sign in with the same social provider you used originally, then set a password from Account → Profile & settings so you have a backup login method.

Managing devices and remote sign-out

Disney+ shows the list of devices that have access to your account in Account → Devices. You can review them, rename your TVs and consoles for clarity, and use Sign out of all devices to instantly revoke access everywhere. This is the fastest way to react to a stolen device, an old roommate who still uses your account, or a suspicious login alert.

Disney+ does not currently impose a strict household-only rule in the United States the way some competitors do, but the company has confirmed plans to introduce paid sharing options in select markets. Keeping your device list clean is good practice regardless.

Customer service

Disney+ provides multiple support channels in the United States:

Security tips for your Disney+ account

Troubleshooting common Disney+ login problems

"We're having trouble logging you in"

This generic error often means a typo, an expired session or a temporary outage on Disney's side. Double-check your email and password, try a different browser, or wait a few minutes and retry. Visit downdetector.com if you suspect a wider issue.

Device limit reached

Disney+ allows simultaneous streams on up to 4 devices on the Premium plan (2 on Basic). If you see "Stream Limit Exceeded", sign out of one device or use Sign out of all devices to reset.

App stuck on the activation code

If your TV displays an 8-character code that never validates, try logging in directly on the device with the on-screen keyboard, or restart the app. Make sure the device clock is correctly set, as codes expire after a few minutes.

Subscription not showing up

If you subscribed through a third party (Apple App Store, Google Play, Verizon, Hulu, Amazon, Roku) and sign in on the web, the subscription must be linked to the same MyDisney email. From your provider's account page, locate the Disney+ activation link and complete the connection.

2-step code not received

Check your spam folder, request a new code, or switch to SMS if you were using email. If the problem persists, contact Disney+ support — they can verify your identity manually and disable 2SV temporarily.

Frequently asked questions

I forgot my Disney+ password — what now?

Click Forgot password? on the sign-in screen, enter your email address, and follow the secure link Disney sends you. The link expires after 24 hours.

What is the MyDisney account?

MyDisney is the unified login system that gives you access to Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, shopDisney, Disney Parks, D23 and more — all with a single email and password. If you have several older Disney logins, the system will offer to merge them when you sign in.

How many devices can watch at the same time?

Disney+ Basic allows up to 2 simultaneous streams, Premium allows up to 4, and you can register up to 10 devices for offline downloads (Premium only). Up to 7 profiles can exist on one account.

How does Disney+ with ads work?

The Basic plan costs less and includes around 4 minutes of ads per hour. The catalog is essentially the same as the ad-free Premium plan, with the exception of a small number of titles restricted by licensing. Downloads for offline viewing are reserved for the Premium plan.

What is GroupWatch?

GroupWatch lets up to 7 subscribers in different locations watch the same movie or episode in sync, with emoji reactions. Each participant needs their own subscription and watches from their own profile.

What is Premier Access?

Premier Access is an optional add-on Disney occasionally uses to offer brand-new theatrical releases for an extra one-time fee (around $29.99). Once purchased, the movie is available to stream as many times as you want during the Premier Access window, and later becomes free for all subscribers.

Can I cancel Disney+ at any time?

Yes. From Account → Subscription → Cancel subscription, you can stop the recurring billing. You keep access until the end of the current period, after which the account is downgraded and your profiles and history are preserved if you decide to resubscribe.
